Tandem holiday refunds

I’m hoping someone is in the same position and is having more luck than i am. I booked my family holiday with Tui in 2019 and then decided to move it to a 2021 holiday after Covid struck. Having been approached about moving my holiday again I this time decided to take a refund which triggered an automatic process of returning my money to several sources I had funded the holiday with. Most of those sources were to closed credit cards but unfortunately in Tandem’s case they themselves decided to close the credit card devision down on 2/11/2020 and their accounts were completely closed from the middle of February 2021.
The refunds were triggered at the start of March 2021 and having made contact with Tandem I have been assured they do not have my money as they have nowhere for it to go but it should bounce back (Nobody can give me a clear answer as to how long it takes for money to bounce back but its been around 30 days so far).
Paypal and Tui who have both sent the funds back to Tandem assure me the refunds are complete so i am currently chasing nearly £2000 with no idea or leads as to how to find it. I have given ARN numbers to Tandem but again was told they do not have an account for the money to go to so can’t trace it and it will return to the merchant. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a refund back to my tandem credit card from a ryanair flight last year. The credit card was closed by the time the refund happened. The refund appeared in my bank account that was used to pay the tandem credit card. I do remember speaking to tandem but I cannot remember if it happened automatically or I had to get them to process it.. Not much help for you but just some experience.1

Hi Steve,
I’m having the same issue, although I’m waiting for BA to provide me with the ARN, so a bit behind you in the process.
By refund from BA was on the 26th Feb, past the apparent 17th “closing” of their system. I got the same from them about no account to pay into. Someone from Tandem accounts is going to look to see if they have it; it took some prodding to force this.
What date was your refund?
Would the Financial Ombudsman help; I’d assume so?
I’ll keep you posted on my progress …

Similar to me however my refund was in January. Still chasing tandem started the formal complaints process.0

I'm having same issue but currently. TUI/FC advise made refund Oct 2021 for July 2020 holiday cancelled due to COVID but to Tandem card. Tandem advise all systems closed 21st Feb 2021. On third call to TUI today, with promise of ARN but really frustrating as got nothing on previous calls and just standard letter from Tandem.

Tandem no longer have a credit card system. The refund would have been returned.0
