                    if a non dependant who doesn’t work and is at university inherits a substantial sum, will this affect my housing benefit?

            If there is no exemption from non dependent deductions then only a non dependants weekly income (and not capital) is taken in to consideration for housing benefits.0

            Please my forgive my ignorance but I’m not quite sure I understand. I rent privately and my girls come home sometimes in the holidays.0

            There is an exemption for students except during the summer holidays, when if they were at home and working more than 16 hours a week you’d get a deduction.If they’re not working there’s no deduction because it’s their earnings that count, not any inheritance.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
