Mirror applied to wallpapered wall? Can it be done

Hi all we have a company supplying and fitting some mirror panels to our daughters bedroom, he said the wallpaper was sound and as long as I PVA prep it then it will be fine.
My dad popped round at the weekend and said that's dangerous and wall paper should be removed.
The wall paper is well stuck on and not loose so now I don't know what to do. Surely the mirror company would have said remove it if it was that bad as they aren't doing it themselves.

I take it these are very lightweight mirrors, such as Ikea's wave? For a decent weighty mirror, I would personally get better peace of mind with a drill and rawl plugs.

Either way you don't want to risk shards of glass buried in the carpet should the unexpected happen - a bang of the front door may have serious consequences.

I'd be quite happy with them stuck to the wallpaper. The weight will be pulling downwards which will try to make the mirrors slide down the wall, which won't happen. On a papered ceiling where the weight would be trying to peel the mirror off the surface I might worry, but not on a wall.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

A mirror of that size will weight about 2.25Kg and I would have thought that providing the paper had been sealed properly and there were a fair few adhesive fixing used then the weight would be well distributed so shouldn't cause a problem.

leave the wallpaper where it is. but make sure you score it well with a good sharp stanley knife, so the adhesive can get through to the plaster.

What's special about these panels? Did you consider acrylic mirror panels? they are pretty cheap, lightweight, absolutely safe. Many sellers can cut it to the size you need, but you can even cut it yourself, although this requires some skills.
