I doubt this is what you want to hear, but your car is the right age to have the Ford PowerShift automated manual rather than a conventional automatic.  Said gearbox, being plagued with problems, is sometimes referred to as the 'Powersh*t'.  The normal manual is much more reliable.  It may be worth talking to an expert, as a bad PowerShift car can become a money pit.
The Wikipedia article, in fact, states that some shuddering is normal with that gearbox.

Sounds like you have the powershift problem. We purchased a 2013 Ford B-Max "powershift" which has a nasty shuddering and grinding noise whenever the clutch would be used (its an automatic so the car handles that bit).

Sadly its a manufacturing fault. If we lived in the USA Ford would fix it for free as they've been taken to court over it, but over here in the UK no such luck.
From what I've read the whole transmission needs to be removed and cleaned as there will be bits of broken clutch floating around everywhere and the entire clutch needs replacing with a newer one that handles the problem. Quotes I've seen so far for the repair on my B-Max range from £1200 to £2000 and we're currently arguing with the dealer we purchased it from back in Oct to fix it as it isnt fit for purpose.
Hope you get it sorted soon at very little cost to you

You've had the car for 9m. What is the current mileage, and what was it at purchase date?
You cannot possibly expect a 10 year old vehicle to be maintenance-free.

The milage was 42,625 now its 46,342

its only used for the kids school and shopping and my wife who works 3 miles away 6 miles each day not including the above
I suspect you'll have more problems with that sort of mileage.  4,000 miles in nine months, all of it very local as well means the engine is never getting up to temperature and the battery is taking a hammering.  You need to take it on a good, long run every couple of weeks.

So, very short journeys in urban conditions, lot of (auto) gear changes and the transmission and engine never get properly warmed up.
And, given the mileage you bought it at, it's had even lower usage in the first ten years, barely 4K miles per year.
So you'd absolutely expect the brakes and transmission to be at the point where major expenditure can be expected soon. Another 4K clocked up since then and that is exactly what has happened.
You've made the classic mistake of thinking that a low-mileage shopping car will be in better condition than a motorway-miler of the same age with 3 times the mileage on it.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Opp, did the car come with FSH?  If so the gear box oil SHOULD have been changed at some point. Check the Ford schedule for your model, then go back to the dealer and ask to see proof this was done.  Then you can say they falsely advertised the car.
