Car insurance returning from abroad

Hi all
I am British citizen currently living and working in Ireland and planning to return to the UK at some point in the future.
Before I moved I had about 11 years no claims insurance but since then have been living here for 2 years not driving and therefore not needing insurance. Where I am living there is no need for a car and it would be too expensive to buy one to not use it.
I'm assuming when I return I am going to be faced with a high premium as I won't have held car insurance for so long. Is there way to avoid this or a case of is what it is?
Thanks in advance

See if Cooperative insurance will accept your old no claims bonus. They accepted NCD which was up to 3 years old last time I checked (which was a while ago, admittedly), whereas the large majority of insurers will only accept it if you have used it in the last 2 years.0

Contact your previous insurer and ask for confirmation of your previous NCD details. They may even be the most competitively priced for first policy after a break as they have all your details.
