HSBC US registered CC issues

Never heard of this before. Where are you reading this?0

My AA credit card was operated by Bank of Ireland (before Jaja took it over) & people had issues transferring to that. I don't see that as misrepresentation either. You shouldn't make assumptions.CLee said:What did they misrepresent? The nature of the account. Do you think that a credit card emblazoned with HSBC UK is accurate when it's actually HSBC US?

Credit cards aren't "registered" in any country. All that's relevant is the jurisdiction under which the credit card agreement is signed - presumably England and Wales for your card.CLee said:OK, to reiterate, not only has the 0% transfer credit card said the HSBC card is registered in the US, binlist itself says the card is registered in the US.
If whatever database you're using suggests that your credit card is issued by a US-registered bank then evidently the database is wrong.0 -
I think this is more likely the issue as I'd expect a US card would attract currency conversion fees every time the card was used in the UK.Chino said:

I don't have an HSBC card to check, my M&S card shows up as UK though.0 -
So what are the 1st 4 on the card?CLee said:The call was after midday to a call centre in the UK. The operative was very helpful. She even put me on hold, twice, to check with managers. I've since checked myself on binlist and it confirms Unites States of America. So the information appears to be correct.
Re: how would the card I wish to transfer to know ... they wouldn't, however, I would be signing a declaration saying that I wasn't going to be using the MT to pay a credit card and so that's essentially fraudulent. I'm not entirely sure how the solution to misrepresentation is to commit fraud.
Otherwise the date of the posts could be a indication of it's true nature...Life in the slow lane0 -
If you have the money in your bank account to pay the credit card off then use that money first and then replace that money with a money transfer.
Simple.
