How to get free packing boxes!

Hi,
I am moving house in 2 weeks and were looking for boxes to pack our belonging. I was a bit reluctant on buying packing boxes on the net (can work out quite expensive!) so put a post on Freecycle to no avail.
I was going to buy a pack on the net when I thought about calling our local tesco who told us that if we came during the night they might have some as their staff are stacking the shelves then.
My hubby went last night at about 2am (coming back from work) and they told him to go and help himself in the aisle and they even put aside all the bigger one for him and advised him on which one were the strongest. He came back with about 20 and was told to come back anytime :T
I thought that it might save money and help somebody.
Happy moving!!

When I started reading your post I was about to suggest you did just that!
When I was asked by my sister to go down to her house in London from Leicester and pack up everything and stick it in her loft I knew I would need some boxes, so I just went to the local corner shop where I live and asked for some crisp boxes. We flat packed them and took some parcel tape so we could make them up again. They were just the right size to go up through the loft hatch!Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
And when you're done with them...Freecycle them-there's one set of boxes has done several moves on my local Freecycle. Plus it'll be good karma for when you need some Freecycle karma yourselfI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I've read on MSE before that Hospitals often have really good strong boxes (used for transporting blood products and fragile stuff). Apparently, if you can track them down round the back of a hospital they are only too happy to give them away.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

I've found bookshops to be a good source of strong, not too huge but not tiny, boxes and have always been willing to part with a few.We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
