@becky_rtw food is my downfall as well. I like to eat well and have a 4 year old that eats more food than me!
Actually I am perfectly happy to eat less meat as I'm not that fussed about it, but DH definitely disagrees. He is currently addicted to beef roasts every weekend (which to be fair is the one thing I do really like..)2025 decluttering: 3,550🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

I love how many different approaches are here, it's great.
On a very low level spend, L1dl's organic eggs sound great for me once I've got my electric bike going in the summer, woo hoo. As far as my food is concerned - yep, ethical vegetarian heretotally surrounded by meat eaters, I really don't care
Because I have so many allergies these days, I tend to see food as fuel, and as long as I eat a variety, I don't much care. I long for cakes, but they make me ill. Sad, but you can't argue with your stomach - well, you can, but you won't come out of it well
Spend last year was about £120 a month.
Most of my spends over the years have been on travel, and it accelerated after I beat my flying phobia - America and Africa, though sadly I haven't yet visited SE Asia or S America. Done the *tip* of Asia, travelled in Turkey for a bit.
Now: as soon as I can, its travel-travel-travel; that will be next calendar at soonest. Though I'm also spending more on my house than I ever have done: the garden fences, the kitchen, the double glazing and the repointing come to mind.
I need to pay attention to what Gally is calling (at the top of this page) medium spends - my mobile, landline and fuel utilities are all emailing me telling me their prices are going up. I've got next week earmarked for that.

Recently joined and love browsing through the posts, thank you everyone for your input. Will come back later and try to respond to the questions when I get time!@Karmacat I greatly admire those with ethics. When I found out what happened to male chicks in the egg industry it knocked me sideways, never ate an egg since. Decided I would never support an industry that killed male chicks at one day old simply because they considered them a waste product as unable to produce eggs!2

my ethics are not as good as you think they are
I do eat eggs - organic, free range, but it's my understanding that the part of the industry that kills male chicks at a day old is the one that's raising chicks to be layers - eggs taste much the same, whether they're male or female? In the days when a vegetarian had to be really quite defensive about being a vegetarian (not so very long ago) I used to say, I don't eat anything with a face. Full vegetarianism is much more complex than that, of course, taking into account the industry behind it. I have no easy answers.

Ethics is a bit of a minefield. I've been researching loads of stuff recently (e.g. sustainable brands etc) and it is so tough! There are definitely no black and white answers for sure and researching takes an age!2025 decluttering: 3,550🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅
