Car club taken money from account

I'm just wondering if anyone can give a bit of advice on this one. A few months ago I received an offer from a local car club called Co-Wheels that said if I paid a one off payment I'd be a member for life with no additional charges.
I thought that's good as normally they charge £5 a month to be a member, I checked through the terms before signing up and it said there would be a £5 a month transaction charge still in the terms.
I contacted their head office to see what they meant by it as their deal was a one off payment for life time membership and yet in their terms it started there was still a £5 a month charge.
I got an email back stating that there terms and conditions were wrong and that if I signed up no £5 a month would be charged.
I've just looked back on my recent bank statements and have noticed that despite this email Co-Wheels has indeed been taking £5 a month from my bank account even though their email said they wouldn't.
I'm wondering where do I stand with this - has anyone used Co-Wheels? I initially joined as I thought it would be handy to have a car available should mine breakdown and as it was a lifetime one off payment and we live in rural Shropshire it seemed quite handy to always have access to a working car.
Did anyone know where I stand with this - will I be able to claim back all the £5s they've taken from my account as I have the email from them that says they wouldn't charge the £5 and yet they have done so or does their terms supercede what they said in email also does anyone know how to cancel Co-Wheels as there doesn't seem a clear option and as they have my card details rather than it being a direct debit it doesn't seem there is a way to block them from using the card.

What do they say when you actually talk to them about this? The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon1

Do solicitors still offer a free half an hour consultation? If not CAB could be your next stop.

It says on the first page
lifetime membership is £25 and a minimum spend of £5 which is added as a driving credit

What exactly did their email say to you?
What did they say when you phoned them up and asked them to refund the charges? (you have done this haven't you??)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
>>In addition to the joining fee, we also have a monthly minimum spend. This work similarly to a subscription fee, however if you use the service at least once per month you receive your £5.00 monthly minimum spend back as credit towards your booking. <<

Best advice is to read the conditions carefully and check your statements regularly.darrenforster99 said:I'm just wondering if anyone can give a bit of advice on this one.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Hi, I purchased a car from a dealership in July 2020, the car had 6 months rac warrenty which ran out Jan 2021.
I paid 3000 on a debit card and 3000 in finance over 3 years, the problem is the car has now got an issue changing from 2nd to 3rd gear (auto gearbox, Ford focus 1.6, 11 reg) as its under a year since purchase can I get the dealership to sort the problem out.
We had took the car back after 1 month as it had juddering issues when pulling away and he sorted it then via a diagnostic tool.
Many thanks for your time reading my problem.0 -
I suggest you start a new thread, as this has nothing to do with the OP's problem. It will just cause confusion...shannianni said:Hi, I purchased a car from a dealership in July 2020, the car had 6 months rac warrenty which ran out Jan 2021.
