Pat testing business

I work for a large company doing Pat testing (Portable appliance testing)
I'm thinking of setting up on my own, it's easy work.
Anyone doing it?

Comments

  • I don't do pat testing myself but have looked into getting my business machines tested. The local companies in my area seem to concentrate on large volumes rather than my 15 appliances and just charge small businesses too much. May be an area you could target?

Have you checked your employment contract for clauses about leaving/setting up in business yourself?

They might have slipped an exclusion zone/timelimit in there.

Check it. If they have, come back to the boards here to find out how enforceable that is.
  • Thanks guys.
I don't think there's a clause stopping us setting up on our own. One of the guys is already doing it.
For a large company it's poorly organised and badly paid. They wonder why staff keep leaving.
