WALKING IN … FOOTSTEPS WITH GYLES BRANDRETH COMPETITION – ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This series includes Walking in Jane Austen’s, Thomas Hardy’s, The Bronte Sisters’ and Charles Dickens’ Footsteps with Gyles Brandreth.

1) The prize is for two adults and comprises:
a) An allowance of £250 per person (£500 total) towards UK travel costs made payable to the winner in the form of a BACS transfer;
b) Accommodation at four locations as follows:
i. Two (2) nights’ accommodation at The Frampton Arms in Dorchester, Dorset, sharing a standard double/twin room on a bed and breakfast basis (Full English or Continental);
ii. Two (2) nights’ accommodation at Jane Austen’s former home in Bath (2 bedroom /1 bathroom private apartment);
iii. One (1) nights’ hotel accommodation (4* minimum) in London, sharing a standard double/twin room on a bed and breakfast basis (Full English or Continental); and
iv. Two (2) nights’ accommodation at Weaver’s Guest House in Haworth, Yorkshire, sharing a standard double/twin room on a bed and breakfast basis (Full English or Continental).
c) In addition, the prize winner and their guest will receive:
i. Two (2) x Adult admission tickets to Hardy’s Cottage in Higher Bockhampton, Dorset;
ii. Two (2) x Adult admission tickets to the Jane Austen Centre in Bath;
iii. Two (2) hour Dickens’ walking tour of London with a professional guide;
iv. Visit to the British Library, London (free of charge entry to attraction);
v. Two (2) x Adult admission tickets to the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth, Yorkshire; and
vi. Tea and cake at Emily’s – The Dining Room, the birthplace of the Brontë’s in Thornton Village, West Yorkshire (allowance of £10 per person).
2) The prize winner must book their trip within 28 days of their congratulations e-mail from Element being sent and at least six weeks in advance of their preferred departure date or the prize may be forfeited.
3) For the avoidance of doubt, the four stays may be taken at different times from each other. The relevant activities linked to each location must be taken at the same time as the stay.
4) All elements of the prize must be taken and completed by 19th December 2022 and accommodation cannot be booked over any UK Bank Holidays (from 15th April to 18th April 2022; 2nd May 2022; 2nd and 3rd June 2022; 29th August 2022). The prize and its components are subject to availability and COVID-19 restrictions. Please note the attractions may be closed for a period due to COVID-19 restrictions.
5) Where the prize winner is under 18 years old, he/she must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over to check into the accommodation. Please note that either the prize winner or their companion will need a current and valid credit card in order to check in at the accommodation for security deposit purposes. It is the responsibility of the prize winner to ensure that they and/or their companions adhere to the local laws in the UK.
6) The prize excludes transport, drinks, additional meals, excursions, attractions, spa treatments, gratuities, personal expenses, travel insurance and all other costs and arrangements not expressly included in the prize.
7) It is the responsibility of the prize winner to inform the prize provider of any wheelchair or similar access requirements for the prize winner and his/her companion when taking the prize, and to adhere to any applicable health and safety guidelines.
8) The prize and all its elements are subject to availability. Neither Channel 5 nor Element will accept responsibility for the accommodation or any facilities being unavailable, withdrawn or amended.
9) There is no cash alternative or refund for unused portions of the prize.
10) Any amendments made by the prize winner after the booking is confirmed may be subject to administration charges levied by the specific supplier. Any such charges will be the responsibility of the prize winner.
11) An allowance towards UK travel costs will be provided to the winner only. The allowance is calculated at a set maximum of £250 per guest and will be made payable to the winner at the time of accommodation booking by the prize provider as a BACS transfer. This travel allowance will be paid to the winner up to a maximum of 2 guests/£500. Neither Channel 5 nor the prize provider are responsible for organising travel arrangements for this prize, it will be the winner’s responsibility to organise this appropriately throughout their stay unless otherwise stated.
12) Any additional charges or expenses due to COVID-19 which could include but are not limited to quarantine hotels, COVID passports (should they become a requirement), COVID tests etc. will be the responsibility of the prize winner.
13) Video footage and images kindly provided by Visit Dorset, Visit Bath, Visit London, the Jane Austen Centre and Weavers Guest House.
14) The Prize Provider of the Literary Tour of Britain is Element London Limited, 5 Morie Street, London SW18 1SL. None of the accommodation or attraction are party to these terms and conditions and are just prize providers to Channel 5.
