Tyne tunnel charge

Hi there I went through the Tyne tunnel the other day, there and back.
I pushed the button at barriers for pay later as I didn't have change on me and the tolls don't have card machines.
Went to pay a couple days later to realise you only get til the next day to pay.
Stupid of me I know, but now I've got a £60 fine (£30) each way, plus the £1.65 (or whatever it was for the actual toll) to pay.
Dont suppose there's a way out if it is there?.
Tried to log on using my ticket reference to pay but I apparently now need to wait until the fine arrives in the post.
I suppose I need to cough up the £60 odd quid, galling when the toll is only £3.65.
But if I can avoid it, I will, haha.
Thanks
