standing daily charges who's the lowest?
Just bought a new home and trying to find an energy provider with low or no daily standing charges. House will be empty during renovations.
Tried MSE search came up with nothing.
Utilita does but can't support the latest smart meters.
Seams like the Utilities switch their tariffs around almost daily so hard to determine who has the lowest daily charges?
Just come off from Eon waited 20 minute while they insisted on going through the whole rigmarole, only to find that their daily charges are high - time waster.
Thanks for any ideas...........

"no standing charge" doesn't really exist these days, what did exist now consists of a minimum charge instead.

Having searched for some hours haven't come cross anyone quoting minimum charges yet.
So the search goes on. Any ideas?0 -
No standing charge supply isn't realistic now.
Try here:https://www.theenergyshop.com/guides/what-is-standing-charge.

Just use the comparison sites and enter 1 kWh as your usage. This will give you the cheapest standing charge tariffs as your top results. Citizens Advice and Which? both allow you to enter this. For my region an EON fix was the cheapest at 9.5p for electricity and 8.9 for gas.2

Trying to find lowest standing charges is difficult. I went on Eon and asked what tariff had the lowest standing charges, but they insisted going though their rigmarole, 20 minutes later of wasted time, came up with high prices. Why can't they just answer the b.........y question?0 -

So search goes on, anyone with recent experience?0 -

It's likely that it is a comparison site exclusive though so may not be available directly on their website. Try via Which? or uSwitch comparison sites.1 -
How long are these renovations going to take that's getting you stressed about the standing charge, bearing in mind that you'll probably need some fuel whilst you are doing the work
TBH although the idea of sasnding charges might be annoying they really aren't everso expensive when compared with the cost of the fuel. 10p a day costs, 70p a week or £36.50 a year whereas just a penny on the fuel cost per kwh can be worth £100-£150 a year depending on how much you use and frequently a cheaper standing charge equates to a more expensive fuel cost.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -

The alternative of disconnecting is not an option as you say there will be some little usage over the year.0
