Same problem and I was sent email stating I had sent a meter reading on 26 Mar 21 which I hadn't. Replied to this email but got no response. Sent an email requesting my new installation id., it was acknowledged but I had no further contact during the next few days. Then I found this website where I found the tel no;- 0333 202 9483.. I phoned this number about 1pm today, it was answered within seconds by the most polite helpful man who listened to my FiT concerns patiently and the rectified the problems, gave me my new installation id., took the current meter reading and arranged for the payment and following payments to go directly into my bank account. I'm so glad I found this website and the 0333 number, and so grateful to the FiT man I spoke to for sorting things out.
I'd have been very suspicious that this might have been a scam !
BG staff helpful & polite ?
Arranging payment by BACS when this page is full of reports that they won't ?

But I've checked the OFGEM website https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-programmes/fit/contacts-guidance-and-resources/fit-licensee-contact-details where they do show that number.

I've had the same problem when trying to submit my latest reading today. I should have checked here first! In the end I just dropped the 9 from the start and removed a zero so hopefully they'll ID it from the meter serial number.

What a rubbish system that changes a key ID without informing customers, almost like it's a deliberate way to get people to leave!

Has anyone moved to a new FIT provider from BG? Any recommendations or restrictions? I seem to recall that there was an issue with providers not obliged to take existing FIT installs.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

wish i saw this thread earlier. this morning i got up and realised i hadn't received a reminder email for a while. Looking at email history it was september last year!

Tried to submit online, got the failure.

Called them with the number I had, was issued the new ID, and submitted bank info for direct deposits.

While I was at it I asked for my full historical submissions + check issue history as I cant' trust these guys after such a massive failure to notify me as the customer that something has changed, and leave me not receiving FIT payments for over half a year...

Did your BACS payment turn up OK and did they send a paper or email statement?
I got my cheque OK but would much prefer BACS going forward if they can do it.

  • 0333 202 9483 - I used this number today,  and hopefully should get my cheque in a few days,  I was offered to switch to BACS.   Yes the ID's have changed and they said an issue with the system meant the emails weren't being sent out ,  but is now fixed.  I'll reserve judgment until the cheque arrives and then change to BACS,   but everything is to be done by email including readings.

New ID here, switched to BACs. They took my first reading since september and I successfully received FIT payment along with a calculations sheet via email in a week.

I heard nothing from British Gas I phoned 0333 202 9483 and got through a Pakistani call centre  who informed me that could be paid by BACs, however this payment would be by cheque and I would have to wait 28 days for it, then the next payment would by BACS transfer.
  • Using the number I got from this forum I got through to the call centre at 09:20  and after waiting for 1 minute the call was redirected to an overseas  centre. The male on the phone was not easy to understand due to his accent but we did establish what my correct Meter Installation number was and he asked me to go online and insert my readings to the BG site to confirm everything.( I was able to do this by referring to an old email that I had kept from BG). The agent did have my details already on his system but it seemed very slow.  He said that BG had sent Emails to all its FIT customers in Dec 20 explaining the meter migration to an automatic system.  I explained that I nor several others had not yet received any emails. He then said that BG is sending Emails telling everyone again and started doing this in late May21 but as there are more than 2000 emails a day it seems to be taking time.  I was able to ask him to put me onto the BACS payment system so await the payment within 3 to 5 days but he did say that it could be up to 28 days. We'll see   Important to note that taking your old Installation  number and simply taking the first 3 digits away and then adding a 5 Will Not Work

Mine was sorted after an email to the BG fit email address.
Cheque arrived for latest reading and next time should be bacs.

  • With all the excuses being made that 'Due to Covid we are not operating as normal' I left my readings expecting things to improve at some point. Just searched about this re Britgas FiT payments and came across this thread. haven't received an e-mail requesting the readings since December 2020. The previous posts appear to answer that question. I have also not received any communication about a new system etc. Looks like I will be contacting them soon. Thanks everybody.
