Covid Discretionary Business Grant. How Long Does It Take To Find Out If You have Been Approved?

I applied to my local council for the "Covid Discretionary Business Grant" for my LTD company (which I am the sole employee of) over a week ago and I have still not heard back yet. All I have had is an email after I submitted my grant saying that the council acknowledge the receipt of my application. Those that have had the grant approved or rejected, how long did it take to find out?

I applied on 19th February and was approved on 19th March.0

It is a little bit variable, from what I know talking to fellow business owners, some people have received them in a week, in others where they have been swamped it had taken up to six weeks.CLEARANCE_FEE said:I applied to my local council for the "Covid Discretionary Business Grant" for my LTD company (which I am the sole employee of) over a week ago and I have still not heard back yet. I was hoping to buy some equipment with the money but if I could be waiting for the next five weeks I'll bite the bullet and buy it now. It be nice if the council displayed the average time for the last month applications on their website.MattMattMattUK said:It is a little bit variable, from what I know talking to fellow business owners, some people have received them in a week, in others where they have been swamped it had taken up to six weeks.0 -
I doubt they have the time or and idea, many have been utterly swamped with applications for the discretionary grants, my local council's business department (who I engaged with for post-Brexit shipping training) said that they received thousands of applications, more than half of which were not eligible but had applied anyway just for the hell of it. They might have 10k applications to get through, but are unsure which ones they will need to genuinely process, or which will be discarded as they do not meet the criteria. I would be happy to get free money on a one week or a eight week timescale.CLEARANCE_FEE said:

My council haven't even published details of who is eligible - just says there will be discretionary funding available.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0
