i'm in a similar situation and looking at options for removal. My local bee keepers are not insured as you say

@Huggy_Bear It's the fact that I can't seem to get any idea of the eventual cost before I pay for the site survey that is frustrating me.0

Will your Council's Pest Control deal with it?0

Construction wise the cheapest to replace and access would probably be through the ceiling. Not being an expert on collecting bees though, I don't know how easy this would be for the bee keeper.0

Lol! Definitely...just let them bee!0 -

As previously mentioned bee keepers are not insured to work at height so they have been ruled out.
One company on FB quoted for removal which included quite a lot of mileage and travel expenses as they are located 100+ miles away. They were able to quote just from pictures I have provided.
A second provides a very comprehensive form to complete gathering as many details as possible and photos to avoid the need for a survey prior to the job being booked. I've yet to hear back from them.
Speaking to a beekeeper/pest control they explained it is not ideal to destroy the nest with poison as bees can take the poison to other local hives and any comb that is left once the bees have died should be removed as the poison can be active for a number of years after. I did get a quote for extermination around the £160 mark but I dont think this included returning to remove any comb. Ideally, I'd like a live removal.
Its not been an easy process but the 2 companies I have been in contact with have been very helpful. Happy to share on a message.HB

Do you have "Home emergency cover" in with your home insurance? We used this to have a wasp nest killed in the loft. No charge, no excess, no effect on premiums (check with your own insurer). Bees are listed as vermin too in our NFU cover.0
