Waitrose have just upped their carrier bag charge for deliveries from 40p to 80p so that may make some people think are they really necessary but it doesn't leave the ones who really need them, without.2

Really all we can do (I posted this thread) is wait and see. The delivery man I spoke to was not one of the best - eager to be off, which is my worry, if there is a slow me and a disgruntled delivery bloke - last week I was greeted with a jolly young man waving merrily to me through the window...
.
In my delivery instructions I ask for items to be placed in the baskets provided as I am trying to be careful and a big thank you, I also say to ring the bell after. Some ring others just don't....it will be interesting to see how this works. I will not change the delivery instructions. I really think that some delivery persons ( delightful lady sometimes ) will want to unload in their time and do it anyway and ring bell and go.
I have to conclude that these last months have created a very nervous person and I hope as things improve my confidence will improve and Tesco can do one!!
But on plastic bag use any shop or supermarket is very much darned if they do or darned if they don't, I have a few jute bags along with several strong Aldi ones - for me it was early conversion as in Wales.1 -
I had a Tesco delivery today that should have been my last with tray liners, but as I thought might happen, no tray liners, so I'd checked yesterday that my order didn't contain anything that would be damaged by being tipped onto the floor, as that was my solution. (Just inside my door.) I have a seat near the door, a grabber for picking things up and a movable veg rack to transport things.
The driver was helpful and would have been more so, he would have been quite happy to carry stuff into my kitchen but I'm still keeping people out of my house. It's easier that way, He also said that he would put stuff into my bags for me but the way I was organised there was no need.
It wasn't really much different to having the tray liners except that they were put on the floor instead of tipped so I'll have to avoid eggs and glass bottles in future, but I use Waitrose as well so will just be more careful about which things I get from where.
Most drivers are like this but you do get the odd one who isn't.2 -
Gale snap I use Waitrose as well, but as they cover such a wider area within the area it's hit and miss with slot. I had my first with bags as now have 3 laundry baskets for groceries to be placed in outside. Waitrose delivery man had started to place items in my baskets as I came to door. No problem at tall with him. I am sure Tesco will go smoothly but as I am on a main road they like to be unloaded and off.1

We really need to get away from using pointless single use plastic. It's good that the big retailers are getting away from plastic bags altogether, as the 5p/10p charge is not really a deterrent if you need a bag to carry your shopping home.0

It should be individual choice,I had a home delivery today and had requested liners, I wasnt prepared when it turned up loose as I didnt know about the change. What I did find odd though was I received many items in red plastic bags, one even containing just one red onion! Quite defeating the object. Theres always options to use again as bin liners or storage etc so not a complete waste. Maybe they could use strong paper bags like other stores. Bag free shopping isnt always an option for vulnerable or disabled customers needing help ,

I suspect this could be challenged under the anti discrimination laws.0 -
Well my Friday delivery went fine, I'd left the laundry baskets outside - bell rang opened the door to see delivery many waving from top path and all items stowed in my baskets.
I agree with above it is that the option was taken away and I was concerned that I might be put under pressure as I am not as young as I was and things take longer. Anyway given myself a clap on the back this week, I went in Sainsburys on my own with my bags and got several items - first time on own since March 20 .1
