Sorry but this is a bit long winded
a few months ago a mate sold some ham radio equipment to a radio shop , he packed into 2 boxes and the buyer sent their courier to collect parcels . Now one arrived but other one disappeared , the shop are refusing to pay out even though they organised and paid for the courier
this is the latest email from them

You may want to edit that photo.
Did your friend have a receipt off UPS for the two parcels?0 -
It looks like the courier has asked for some information from your mate to allow the shop to claim for the loss. Why hasn't he provided this?

The shop will not pay for something they did not receive.
Any claim is with the courier.
Presumably, the courier has asked for proof of purchase of the items that were in the lost box so they can deal with claim.

The OP mentions the shop paid for the courier so the shop has the contract.sheramber said:The shop will not pay for something they did not receive.

OP does the lost box show as collected? Any further scans? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
He has the receipts for both parcels collected , ups stuck the labels on and then gave him the receipts , one parcel arrived other is lost
both parcels show as collected , one shows as delivered and other shows as being in one of their sorting warehouses

Well I would say as the shop paid for the courier and it shows as collected and then scanned somewhere along the way the shop should be dealing with this.Atherlon_2 said:He has the receipts for both parcels collected , ups stuck the labels on and then gave him the receipts , one parcel arrived other is lost

Regarding proof of value if your friend has some kind of original receipt I would email a copy to the shop and UPS, if not then presumably the value is what the shop were going to pay and your friend should have some kind of quote which again I would give to UPS.
They are wrong that they are not responsible but a cooperative claim with UPS between the two parties may be considered acceptable.
With all things that can't be agreed it's a case of sending a letter before action and then small claims if still no resolve but it's aggravation and (I may be wrong) but it perhaps could be viewed that not assisting with the UPS claim is failing to mitigate the loss.
Personally I'd play along with the claim, hope it's all sorted and if not then as above be looking at a letter before action and then small claims. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
