Siemens E6 Gas Meter Not Working

I have a rental flat which has been empty for 6 months and have just noticed that the gas meter's battery must have run out and it's not registering.
Orbit Energy haven't replied to my previous email (not related to this) since 26/8/2020 and I've never had a bill since they took the account over before that.
Is it likely the meter is still "reading" the consumption internally although not displaying it?
How can I get them to replace or repair the meter?
What happens if a new meter won't fit as the old meter has been there for years and a new kitchen built on top of it.
Thanks!

It's quite possible that the last tenant in the flat changed the Gas supplier - Google "Who supplies my gas" to check the flats supplier

If the new kitchen has been built in a way that prevents clear access to replace the meter then you are going to be removing parts of the kitchen unfortunately...
May be worth posting a couple of photos, there are a few people on here with relevant experience that may comment...
As for the meter still recording usage or not, the odds are that even if it is the data will not be recoverable so you'll end up with an estimated bill.
If you've got records from previous years with other suppliers it may be worth digging them out so you can decide if the eventual estimated bill you get is reasonable or not...
