Cold weather payment

Why are people with disabled children discriminated against if they are on tax credits, my friend and I both have disabled children, both earn similar wages. I claim tax credits, they claim universal credit. They recieved a cold weather payment, I didn't. This doesn't seem fair at all.. Is this to encourage me to claim universal credit???

Cold weather payments have never been paid to people on Tax Credits only but are paid to people on various DWP means tested benefits.

I know that.. But no difference in circumstances other that universal credit /tax credits.. Claimed. Im guessing this is trying to encourage people to claim universal credit.

It really isn’t. The cold weather payment rules predate UC. UC is added as a qualifying benefit because it has replaced, for new claims, the legacy benefits which give entitlement to the cold weather payment.
