Confused beginner on Vanguard

Hi, I'd sort of half realised that. By that I mean I realised that funds can contain a collection of funds, and/or contain the same stocks and shares as other funds, but I didn't know the specifics. I think at this stage I was just excited to start playing. I've been reading stuff and watching YouTube videos and learned a few things, but I still have a long way to go. The biggest challenge for me is trying to not get carried away. I caught myself reading up on the etoro platform and bitcoin yesterday, but stopped myself, on the basis I haven't got vanguard nailed yet so best go one step at a time.eskbanker said:I appreciate you're just getting your feet wet and playing with small amounts, but you do realise that a chunk of a LifeStrategy holding will be the S&P 500? Nothing inherently wrong with overlaps but once you progress to more substantial investing you'll find it better to plan your portfolio more carefully....0 -
Your VLS fund is a Global Multi Asset Fund which is suitable for persons just starting investing. Maybe you should stick to just that fund until you have gained more knowledge.
A good rule is not to put money into something you do not understand.
As a matter of interest which videos did you watch?

I'm putting most of my investment money in lifestrategy, but wanted a small amount with a different one more as a learning piece more than anything.Eyeful said:Your VLS fund is a Global Multi Asset Fund which is suitable for persons just starting investing. I hear what you say about not putting money into things you don't under, but if I'd taken that approach, I'd have no pension savings, and that approach caused me to delay getting onto the property ladder because back then there were repayment mortgages (easy to understand) and various others that sounded cheaper but really confusing.
The two main YouTube channels I watch for this stuff are Mama FurFur, that's a Scottish entrepreneur that seems to know her stuff, and a young lad called Damo, I can't remember his channel name off top of my head. Both do a good job of explaining investing in layman's terms.1 -
I also watch mamfurfur, Damien talks money and also The humble penny
