Help towards childcare

Does everyone get the 85% help towards childcare or is it only if you earn below a certain amount?
We currently get help towards our sons nursery fees but husband has been offered a new job and it's around £4000 a year more so wondering if this help will stop? He is going upto £24000 and I earn £6700.

Thanks for advice

If this is on Universal Credit, the 85% entitlement gets added to your overall UC award, which is then reduced based on your earnings. So there is no specific earnings threshold as it will be based on your individual circumstances. Have you tried putting your information into one of the benefits calculators to see what they say, if you are entitled to anything. They are generally pretty good as long as you enter your information accurately.

  • Hi,
Yes I have and with the childcare costs it showed that we would but was worried it was wrong. Also just worked out husband got a bonus of £200 last month and we still got £364 total from universal credit including the childcare element. So if his new wage is around £80 more I'm assuming we would get that minus the £80 approximately.
Thanks were hoping to move our child to a council run nursery in summer if our application is successful and then won't have to worry about childcare costs as free just happens I lost my job during the virus and hours I work now are over 5 days during the day instead of 3 full days we previously needed for nursery.

We earn similar to the new proposed wages that you have stated and we still get the full 85% towards childcare costs.
