Broken Fridge

Hello, i would like some advice. My samsung fridge has broken it is 4 years old and the ice machine has stopped working. I called samsung who states that I had a 2 year warranty but I never registered within 90 days for a 5 year warranty, so the repair will have to be paid by me as it is out of warranty.
My point is that it is a relatively new product and expensive and therefore should not be going faulty after 4 years. Also i dont understand the logic of signing up within 90 days for an extension to the warranty. If they are willing to fix the fridge and give a 5 year warranty to people who sign up then they should be able to guarrantee my fridge for 5 years whether I signed up or not. The fridge doesnt change just because you log your email!!
I just want to know my options, should i continue arguing? or will I have to pay for the repair? Samsung continue to refuse to pay for the repair so is there someone else I can appeal to? Just seems unreasonable to me that the product has only lasted 4 years.

Warranty is at the discretion of the manufacturer and is not your consumer rights .Subject to any terms they choose .Consumer Rights are against the vendor so go back to them not Samsung .They may ask you to proof your assertion .( Just seems unreasonable to me that the product has only lasted 4 years. ) .If found in your favour vendor has the right to repair , replace or refund less 4 years usage .
