Charged 3x VAT on EU purchase, already paid VAT to UK Division

Hello All,
The end of February 2021 I ordered roughly £300 of materials from a company, I paid VAT at 20%. The company is based in Germany however I made payment to their UK ltd company.
The order is coming from Germany in two 20kg deliveries through GLS and Parcelforce in the UK. The first parcel seems to be stuck somewhere in Germany, but the second parcel has made it to the UK, it is with Parcelforce and customs charges have been raised. The cost seems to be about £68 (VAT + Handling fee).
Do I have to pay this and claim it back from the company I purchased it from, or can I provide Parcelforce with proof I paid the VAT (I have a invoice to their UK Ltd, with a UK VAT number and Company number) ??
My second worry is when they split the order into 2 packages, am I going to end up paying the VAT a third time when the second parcel comes through? (I assume they have slapped the full value on both packages instead of splitting it)
Thanks in advance, any advice appreciated!!
