Travel Ban and hotel booking

Hi everyone! We were due to go to Amsterdam during Summer 2020. This was rescheduled to Easter 2021. I had booked a stay in an Ibis hotel in Amsterdam. With current government guidance in NI I am not allowed to travel. I have contacted booking.com and hotel and they say it can only be rescheduled until end of year. It was a non-refundable room. Am I able to claim a refund via booking.com for this stay, due to gov advice? I have no travel insurance (lesson learned)! Any advice?

The offer of a travel waiver and credit for a future stay is likely the best offer you will have. There is no right to a refund if the hotel is open and has a room held for you.2

+ 1 Re above advice. Rebook as late as you can and see what the situation is then. (Possibility they may agree to an extension if things no further forward).0

If it's non-refundable, you're getting what you booked - travel bans etc aren't the concern of a hotel in another country, that's a 'you' issue not a 'them' issue.
I'd do as above, book later in the year and enjoy the break.0 -
There is no package, so your rights will be contractual rather than obligatory.
You have a room booked at a (presumably) open hotel in Amsterdam, how you get there is your problem, not that of the hotel.💙💛 💔0
