Currently with Octopus.  I like their customer service and the way you manage your account on line and how much control YOU have.  But I don't like their price especially since it went up to about 17p per kWh (north Scotland which is always more expensive)
I came across Neon Reef on another forum and they are offering me 12.9p per kWh and 19p per day standing charge. Way cheaper than Octopus
So the questions:
Anyone used them?  What are they like?  One thing I like with Octopus is within reason you can set your monthly direct debit amount and they  don't !!!!!! you about, but what are Neon like?
Again with Octopus I send a monthly reading on the website (no smart meter and don't want one) and you get a bill based on that months actual usage. Are Neon the same?
How long have they been going?  I fear at this low price they won't last long and you will be transferred to some random substitute supplier?
Do i have to put my Octopus balance into credit (end of winter small debit at the moment) before you can change supplier?
I have a pending £50 Octopus referral bonus, I guess I should wait for that to complete before switching?
Why has this never came up on a price comparison site?  Last time I looked I could only save about 0.3p per kWh compared to Octopus. Nothing this cheap came up?

Neon Reef does come up on comparison sites - just not certain rubbish ones like the one associated with this very forum :)

There's already a thread re Neon Reef

I'm happy with them (stepdaughter been with them since Aug, I've just switched to them). Obviously a risk they might not survive and they share Directors with Utility Point who don't get great reviews, but the two operations seem to run differently with NR having good customer service albeit by chat or email as no phone contact.

Don't forget if you do go with NR to check rather Referrers sub forum for a referral link to get some extra credit.

I was a refugee from Yorkshire energy when they failed in early December,  going against advice of staying with Scottish Power who were appointed supplier of last resort, a very fitting expression having read their reviews on trust pilot, I immediately switched to Neon reef, I've been supplied since 3rd January and have had no problems so far. When getting a quote for a fixed rate be sure to enter your own usage rather than the average usage on the site if you are a low user such as myself for a lower fixed direct debit, I fixed at 14.3p  kwh and 12.1p sc.  Scottish Power supposedly supplied me from 5th December to 3rd January but have yet to bill me, so much for staying with the big six , support the small suppliers for as long as they last. Solarplicity, Ebico, Yorkshire energy are the small companies that have failed on me. NR were doing a £25 referral code if you think it's worthwhile.

Been with them for over a year on a variable tariff that's never been increased, although no longer available for new supply.  No phone support, but Customer Service has been great.

Start comparing with Citizens Advice and 'Which? Switch', entering your annual kWh usage derived from actual meter readings a year apart.   Just compare annual costs, always ignore all projections and savings claims. Remember that separate suppliers are often cheaper than dual fuel, so do the sums for both cases.

Been looking after a family members electricity account on neon reef for about a year. Good supplier, no problems, easy no frills website for meter reads, good online customer service. Overall very impressed.
