Does retailer have any obligation to supply spares?

Last summer I bought a Kamado Joe barbeque. A few months ago I managed to topple it and the main part smashed, so I need a replacement.
It's been three months of trying to get the retailer who sold it to me to provide me with the price/availability of a spare. The most I've managed to get out of them is that Kamoado Joe "haven’t come back to us yet on the price".
I contacted the manufacturer who, for some reason, put me in touch with another retailer who will supply the part but won't deliver it. They are three hours away from me, so that's a significant journey.
Can my original retailer (who are 10 mins away) essentially refuse to help?

Yes as its all about customer service and what you would like and what the retailer is willing to provide which is not legally binding,0

They can unless you took out a maintenance contract with them.
There is no requirement for a retailer to provide a spares service for items that they sell. It sounds like the manufacturer themselves aren't supplying them but have found you a retailer who has one.

There's (generally) no requirement for manufacturers to provide spares, so there obviously can't be one for the retailers to help out either.0

Have you looked into price of getting a courier to pick the part up from the retailer that's 3 hours away? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

As an aside, it's said to be coming soon for certain goods (no help to the OP though):davidmcn said:There's (generally) no requirement for manufacturers to provide spares, so there obviously can't be one for the retailers to help out either.

Even if spares are available doesn't mean its worthwhile. My washing machine cost around £200, a replacement motor is available but it is £160 plus delivery0

Unfortunately as others have said, there's currently no requirement for them to stock spares - although it looks like it's coming.
As a retailer this would be a massive pain in the backside; imagine being potentially on the hook for hundreds of pounds because something simple like a drive belt or circuit board was unavailable!0
