NS&I and Starling not compatible?

Hi,

I moved my current account to Starling a few months ago and it's all worked without a hitch, with one exception.

I have savings with National Savings & Investments that I'd like to liberate because of their terrible interest rates, but they won't let me withdraw them into my Starling account because they say they "can't verify" my account. No other savings provider has had this problem.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you resolve it? I'm literally in the position of not being able to get my hands on my own money.

Thanks.

For what it's worth, I've had no problem setting up my Starling current account with NS&I

I have just added my Starling account as a nominated account to my NS&I account. Very smooth process, incl. verification by automated phone call. It took just a couple of minutes.

I have then made a small withdrawal from my PB account, which was accepted and the money is scheduled to arrived in my Starling account on Wednesday. As usual, I had to answer two security questions for that withdrawal.

Are you using the correct sort code, account number and name?
Is your Starling sort code the same as mine, 60-83-71?
Do NS&I have the correct phone number for you?
Have you made successful withdrawals (to another bank account) before?
Do you have another bank or Building Society account you could use?

I have Starling linked with NS&I.  Are you sure you’ve put in the correct sort code, account number and account name?

Withdraw to the card you deposited from and done?

For record the interest rates might be poor, but the Premium bonds aren't bad imo.

NS&I does not offer withdrawals to cards.

Just a quick update on my test withdrawal to Starling: it arrived as promised on Wednesday.

There is no reason to believe that NS&I and Starling are incompatible. Any issues the OP experiences must be unique to them.

Just to add to this I too added my Starling bank to my NS&I account without any problems until I tried to cash in some bonds. Everything started fine and was showing as a pending payment for tomorrow in the Starling app and then I got a call from NS&I telling me that they are unable to confirm the identity of the account and as such will not be able to send the money to my starling bank. They offered two options, the first is they get approval from a manager to accept a statement from my starling account as confirmation of identity after which i can receive the funds or they decide not to use that option they can post me a cheque. The only other option is to open another bank account and add that to my NS&I account. They did tell me on the phone that there is known problem with the way Starling shares it information that does not work well with the NS&I system and that they often see this problem with Starling accounts so I assume it is not all accounts but is a fairly common problem.

just to add that a small withdrawal on a newly added bank account will often go.through but anything larger is manually looked at and if they can't get COP that it is your account they block.it
