Credit score & joint accounts

Hi,
I'm looking to get a joint account with my wife but her credit score isn't as good as mine. Mines the best it can be but hers is around 850 but it's not risen for months. She defaulted on a few things several years ago but I think they are off the report now
Question is, if I get a joint account with her how much will it affect my score? We want to apply for a mortgage together eventually too.
Thanks

Your scores aren't of any relevance as they're just a gimmick.
If you become financially associated, lenders can take the other person's history into account when assessing you for credit. Unless there is a desperate need, it's best not to link yourself to someone with a poor history.0 -

Hi I’m looking for advice. I’m signed up to ClearScore so I get a monthly credit rating. In January I opened a joint bank account with some one who has a bad credit score. Our account has a positive balance and no overdraft was approved (so no debt) but my credit score has dropped over 80 points since I opened the account?!?! Does anyone know why?? Please help I want to apply for a mortgage next year but won’t be able to if my score keeps dropping!!
