Ooh, an interest-free mortgage - that would be wonderful ๐๐๐!Mortgage start: ยฃ65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ!!! In 5 years, 1 month andย 29 days
Total amount repaid: ยฃ72,307.03. ยฃ1.10 repaid for every ยฃ1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!2 -
Papers to sign have all arrived but we need to wait for Mr Dora's April wage slip to come before we can send it off. He's paid by actual hours so 4 week months he earns less than 5 week months so we need to show that in payslips as the mortgage lenders computer finds that very hard to compute! Probably not going to get onto new mortgage before May payment so hoping just to do a hefty overpayment if we can then. Hoping that the figures still stack up and we can change over in time for June instead. Nothing moves quickly unless you owe money!ย

Menu planning for as small a spend as possible this week while still trying to eat healthily! Not easy but we have a freezer full of stuff that needs using up so a couple of days of freezer roulette should help to see us through! Hoping to squeeze a little more out of the budget to shimmy across to the mortgage or savings.ยMortgage ยฃ119,533 going down slowly

I would agree with your plan to keep your mortgage reasonable and save potential overpayments in a savings account, that way if something drastic happens you have money available without having to use credit.ยMortgage Free 23 December 2020

Roller coaster of a time in recent weeks/months. Illness in close family but not covid related, and some older family members in financial crisis so trying to support them too. Trouble at work so I'm looking at options as I was lastย in and am potentially first out as I'm cheap to get rid of but expensive to keep. Mortgage still not sorted as Mr D's work changed payment system and everything crashed in April and he's only just got paperwork sorted. Apart from that everything's great
Friday night is clear the decks - bag, car, laundry, dishes and finances so going to update all the numbers, breath a bit and have an early night as we pick up the uni teen to bring her home for the summer tomorrow.Mortgage ยฃ119,533 going down slowly

Not been on much cos life/work has been a bit crazy! Finally got agreement from mortgage company to change as much of the mortgage as we can to repayment, can't afford to change it all over but a big chunk of it is. Still saving up in the meantime so we can cover any future work disasters but also looking at overpaying from the interest only part as well. Need to get updated figures on everything and then work out our plan going forward. Still working on keeping costs down so back to basics in terms of cooking/cleaning and free days out as much as possible. No big holiday due to the teen starting work and Mr Dora too but looking forward to weekends of beach/country or city day trips depending on the weather.ยMortgage ยฃ119,533 going down slowly

Mr Dora got paid so shuffled some more money over to BFFund but found a big crack in an external wall at the start of the week so hoping we don't have to use too much our fund to pay for repairs, insurance company is sending someone out this afternoon to assess what's happened and what needs doing to fix it! Fingers crossed it's nothing serious or too difficult to remedy.Mortgage ยฃ119,533 going down slowly

Shuffled a bit more over to the BFF and side hustle pays tomorrow so that's another ยฃ200 to move over too. Need to update mortgage numbers tomorrow once I can remember the password and chase the house insurance too cos nothing's come from that.ยMortgage ยฃ119,533 going down slowly

House insurance claim still waiting for someone to compile a report....
Checked mortgage details and for the first time we are down under the ยฃ150,000 mark so that's a teeny victory. Transferred the side hustle payment over to the BFF as well and should be able to slide some more over after pay days next week (minus the cost of a brand new school uniform for a growing teen!) Once the house claim and a car accident claim are sorted we can hopefully able to pay a few k off the mortgage and still have a healthy BFF moving forward.ยMortgage ยฃ119,533 going down slowly

Had a cr&ppy few days but the sunshine is out and I am trying to work my way through the house, finances and school prep slowly. Trying for a NSD day today and cancelled a couple of standing orders for things we don't need anymore. Going to chase BT too as our bills seem to have rocketed recently and they need cutting back, probably all the calls to insurance agencies recently!ยMortgage ยฃ119,533 going down slowly
