Refund on travel

I had a break booked for Oct 2020 via Expedia (flying with KLM). Unfortunately we couldn't go because of Covid so we rearranged to go in March 2021. Again because of Covid we were unable to go. We approached them to ask for a credit voucher. They advised they would look into this option and send an e-mail to confirm. They then e-mailed a week later to state that they were still in the process of looking into a credit voucher. We then made contact with them via phone after not hearing anything. They advised that they would simply refund us rather than provide a credit note. We have been advised we would have to wait 4 months for a refund. Is this waiting time acceptable? I don't think it is to be perfectly honest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's not clear from your post - you said you were "unable to go", but did the flight operate?0

with the amount of refunds being processed I think a wait is acceptable. They do say up to 4 months it may be sooner.
I had a refund from Delta , They told me up to 3 months, I was happy with that . I actually had the refund within 5 days
you are also lucky KLM agreed a refund , many have been fighting KLM for ages to get them to refund

is that wait 'up to' 4 months or 'could' have to wait for 4 months?Eloise32 said:We have been advised we would have to wait 4 months for a refund. Is this waiting time acceptable?
Third parties such as Expedia will refund once they have received the refund from the airline (not before) I suspect the 4 months is their standard response to cover themselves as they won't know when they will receive the airline refund (and stops people phoning every second day saying 'where is my refund') I would also expect that you will receive it before then assuming KLM are not taking months to issue refunds0 -
We knew that it would get cancelled again, so we contacted Expedia to see if we could get a credit voucher rather than cancel altogether. It was Expedia who decided to refund the monies. I think waiting 4 month for a refund is unacceptable, as it was them who decided to refund.
