JPS Financial Ltd charging a fee

I've just received letter from JPS Financial Ltd saying they are charging me £190 +vat , for work done investigating mid- sold PPI.
They claim I never sent back a signed Letter of Authority and are closing the case and sending me a bill for the " two hours worth of work done".
Surely this can't be right? I've never has any PPI refunded to me,  and I thought they operated on a "no win,  no fee basis?!

Comments

  • If you employed them to do a PPI complaint and refused to sign the LOA for them to operate on your behalf then yes, they can try and charge you for time wasting, what do the terms and conditions say that you agreed to?

As mentioned, a number of CMCs do have  a time waster clause in there.    Normally only charged if the person employed the CMC after they had already attempted to complain about the PPI sale previously.
