Most likely. Likewise VED savings won't be forever, so my advice is make good while the sun is shining!dipsomaniac said:depreciation of ev cars will be =/> than ice cars once supply and demand levels out
The other aspect that is not apparent is just how much nicer an EV is to drive, particularly at the low end of the market. The power delivery of my Zoe and the 'automatic' gearbox is absolutely head and shoulders above anything in the same price bracket (~£15k for 2yr old <10k miles).4 -
Yeah, people tend to assume EV drivers are into them because of the green issue, or cost savings.DrEskimo said:

Neither were the reason I got an EV, they were just pleasant side-benefits.
I wanted one because I'm into gadgets, I hate standing in windy petrol stations, EV parking is easier in town (rows of unused EV-only spaces where I live) and they're just so damned nice to drive.

What I need is for the price to come down to a realistic level. If I could get the Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV for the same price as it is in China- about £3200 (and they still make a profit!) I'd have one like a shot. Perfect for an Old Fogey like me to drive to the shops, or commute 15 miles or so to a part time job.Instead we get £20,000 cars, because people here expect to pay that much, and no doubt the market research is right, and they really do- when I tried to buy a poverty spec. Dacia, you can't get them, because everybody wants to pay for massively overpriced alloy wheels and a bit of carpet on the "better" specced models.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science

Or do Renault UK simply deliberately restrict supply of the loss-leader spec to upgrade you to the profitable specs?facade said:...when I tried to buy a poverty spec. Go buy a used Renault Zoe, they are fantastic value.facade said:What I need is for the price to come down to a realistic level. If I could get the Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV for the same price as it is in China- about £3200 (and they still make a profit!) £5000 will get you one that's only a few years old and very low mileage.
BTW Dacia are coming out with an EV SUV that should only be around £10K to buy new.

did you receive any tax payer funds when you bought it?BOWFER said:I made a £2500 profit on my Leaf."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
It wasn't 'bought', it was on PCP and I settled that to buy it (to enable me to sell it)dipsomaniac said:

But even if I had bought it, the assistance is a grant and grants (of any kind) don't have to be paid back.
Thanks for your financial contribution though
BTW I also got free public charging for it in Scotland.
