TV + Soundbar Combo £2000 [UK]

Hey,

I’ll be moving into a new home in the next few weeks/month and I’m looking to get a new setup to replace my ageing one (Philips 43PUS6262 // Yamaha RX-V365 // Mordaunt Short 904i).

Due to space constraints I’m looking at dropping the AV Receiver and floor standing speakers in favour of a modern Soundbar. I don’t really know much about current audio tech or Soundbars in general so just looking to see what people would advise, depending on my TV choice I will have somewhere between £300-£500 available towards a Soundbar (this could be stretched ever so slightly if the additional cost is worth it).

When it comes to TV’s I’m torn between the Samsung “The Frame” 2021 QE55LS03AAUXXU and the LG OLED55C14LB, I believe both will meet my needs (I will be using a PlayStation 5 as the main input device to the TV for everything from gaming to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sky, Spotify, YouTube etc etc you get the idea). I’m open to other similar priced options within my budget (I would have stuck with Philips as I like the Ambilight feature but they seem so far behind as far as spec to price ration when compared with the competition that I can’t justify keeping the Ambilight feature).

Any and all suggestions and advice welcomed, if you need any additional info please feel free to ask, thanks for reading and I look forward to your replies :)

Have a great weekend,

Sounds a bit scary going from a proper system to a soundbar. I don't think I could do that.

Philips do an ambilight OLED set, one of the best money can buy as ambilight is awesome, the 935. Will be most of your budget though.

As well as a sound bar, have you considered wireless rear speakers? I have something similar for my projector, speakers are rechargeable, just remove from docking station, it's only a budget 4.1 setup but better than any soundbar I looked at at the time, no doubt better options exist nowadays.

It might be something I can look at down-the-line but at the moment with lockdown and medical shielding it’s out of the option.

Thanks, the LG TV’s do seem to boast the best offerings at their price point but I’ve not looked into their sound offerings.

Yeah it’s been a touch decision but unfortunately the new space simply won’t accommodate the full setup so I’d rather have something than nothing at all.

I really do like my Ambilight, if they offered a better Ambilight HDMI box I would have looked at that as a potential add-on, especially since I also own the hue bulbs, a 2m LED strip and 3 of the hue play kits. I might have to take a look at the 935 and see what I make of it.

The space I’m working with is rather small so all the furniture will be up against the wall so I don’t think I’ll have space to accommodate any additional speakers (they would end up at the sides and not rear), I’ll not rule it out though as there might be something I can look to do.

I see you have put it on AVF

my first thought was with a £2k budget why only upto  £500  when going for a LG 55C.
Then I realises you are going for the new pricy C1   when you can still get a CX under £1,200 rather than ~£1,700

Are the improvements really worth the extra?
this is what happened to CX pricing since it was introduced at around £1,700
