Hi, new to the forum just looking for a bit of help and advice.
Bought a Apple watch series 5 in October 2019 from Currys PC world. Last weekend it stopped charging and working. I contacted Apple who said as its over 12 months old its out of warranty with them and because I purchased it through a 3rd party retailer to contact the 3rd party and use consumer laws ?.
Apple said they will repair/replace the watch for £280 but I just thought I would ask on here as to were I stand with Curry PC world?
any advice will be greatly received.
and sorry if this has been asked before.
Thanks

If it is a manufacturing defect then the retailer you bought it from should repair it. But for items older than six months it is up to you to prove it is an issue that would have been there from the start.
Your consumer rights are with Currys but they can ask for a report to be done that proves it was a manufacturing issue.1 -
I know im being a bit thick here but what do I do? do I swallow it up and pay Apple the £280 or what is the other option and what does it entail ?

and what do I say to them or what do they say to me for a item that is 18 months old ?

Need to find out what warranty Currys sold the watch with. If its failed after 18 months and you had a two year warranty with Currys for example, shout at them. If (as is quite likely with DSG) its farmed out to the likes of Domestic & General and you signed up for an extended warranty, claim through them.

as it is more than six months old you may need to pay for a report to see if the fault is a manufacturing defect but if it is then you get the money paid for the report back and they do the repair.
“ When goods are faulty, if you return them within six months, then it's up to the shop to prove they weren't faulty when you bought them. After this, the burden of proof shifts and it's up to you to prove they were faulty when you bought them.” from https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/consumer-rights-refunds-exchange/#goods1 -
