Working from home tax relief

Hi,
My partner started working from home last year due to the covid pandemic and we completed the tax relief online for this.
He's now been told that he has to work from home permanently. Do we need to complete the tax relief online annually and if so when should we do it?
Many thanks.

The WFH rules were relaxed for Covid-19.
His situation is different now so he would need to make a new claim starting from 6 April 2021 (the claim under Covid-19 rules applies for the whole of 2020:21).
But he may not be eligible anymore (from 6 April 2021) - you would need to check the criteria in gov.uk first.1 -
Hi there,
I completed the online micro service for working from home for 2021/2022 without any problems. I didn’t know that I could claim at the same time for the 2020/2021 .
Since then I've tried to return to the microservice and the option isn’t there for the £6 a week deductions. I've gone back in, many times, in case i hit the wrong options previously, but the form is different to the one I originally filled out.
I think maybe i missed out on the opportunity to claim for the previous year because I didn’t claim for it at the same time.
If anyone can help , that would be great.
Thank you.0 -
You have until 5 April 2025 to make a claim for the 2020:21 tax year.
If you can't claim online you could complete a P87 (most sections won't apply) and post that to HMRC. Make you show the correct tax year.

Or try phoning, they may well accept a Covid-19 WFH claim for one year.0
