British gas closed my account

    It may well have been BG fault, but you must have realised you would still need to pay for the gas you were using at some point? It's too late now but if anything like this happens again you need to make sure that you put the money aside for when it is needed. Can you come up with a payment plan?

    you do know that you usually have 2 weeks after someone has initiated a switch as a "cooling off period" to stop the switch from happening. After that period it happens, but if it has been done incorrectly the supplier has an obligation to sort it out once notified.

    All very well said but at the time I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, had a tumour and a good section of intestines removed and then chemo therapy. So I wasn't well and the last thing I wanted to do was to chase after British gas for months on end trying to pay them. To tell you the truth, I thought I wouldn't last this long and may not still do I want worried about the fact that some day I would have to pay it.
