What does a Zipcar damage protection cover means for a second insurance?

I bought a car and want to insure it. A very critical question is "Do you own or use another car"?
If I say yes, the choices will be:
  • Policy holder on another car
  • Named driver on another car
If I don't choose any of the two, I have to say no, which is a lie.
I still want to use Zipcar occasionally, so I do "use another car". However, I am not sure which of the two options are more realistic (?)
It is evident that I am insured when using Zipcars, otherwise it would have been illegal to drive. I even pay Zipcar £15 a month to have a £0 excess on damage cover. But there is no specific car or insurance document that my name is on it. so, which one shall I choose?

I occasionally hire a car: sometimes several times a year, sometimes never. It has never occurred to me to answer "yes" to "Do you own or use another car". I think your situation is similar.

What they are really after is if you have another motor insurance policy for another car or are named on someone elses motor insurance policy to drive another car or both.

Your excess policy isn't a policy that actually covers you to drive on the public roads, it just covers the excess from the hirers policy.

Even when you hire a car from a hirer or car club you aren't the policy holder of that car or in fact a named driver on their motor insurance policy. Their motor insurance allows virtually any qualified driver to drive (within reason set out in their policy). You only sign the agreement that you comply with these reasons and you are responsible for the excess on it in the event anything happens.

If in doubt, phone your insurance company or broker.

BTW, £15 a month excess insurance is pretty steep, if you shop around you can get yearly policies for a lot less than that which will cover any car club car, not just Zipcar, some even cover normal hires both here and abroad.
