Wickes engineered wood flooring is nice my be similar cost to mid range laminate0

Different types of laminate seem to need different underlay, so it might be easier to choose the flooring first, then go with the recommended underlay to match it.1

It would help if you told us where the flooring would be going down.
Personally I'd always go for engineered wood over laminate any day of the week, but in certain circumstances I'd also look at LVT. Laminate would be me absolute last choice, unless I was looking to do something on the cheap.1 -
Wow, that's an open question...But, if Med Oak is your pigeon, then we've just had this fitted in our extension: https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Aspiran-Oak-Laminate-Flooring---2-22m2-Pack/p/215603Can't fault it - lovely to look at and to walk on. Terrific value.

So much to read, so little time.0 -
I'll be getting quickstep laminate, as it's water resistant. I was looking at LVT but since we're laying it ourselves I got scared of floor preparation. The subfloor needs to be perfect for LVT.
I think with quickstep they want you to get their own underlay, and it's bit more pricey.0 -

Another vote for Quickstep laminate. Laid in lounge last year using the green board underlay from Wickes - looks fantastic and goes together very well.0

Another question: is how much should it cost to install laminate flooring? I need to do the whole house - 3 bed, 2 living rooms, kitchen, landing and hall. Thanks.0
