Paid my car insurance but they haven't put my car on insurance database! Lease company will take ca

Paid my car insurance on my lease car back in October to a broker. A month ago I get a call from the lease company saying my car isn't on the insurance database. So I ring the broker who say don't panic your insured and we will sort it out. Then3 days ago the lease company ring and say my car still isn't showing on the data base and they will take my car back in 17 days. They know I have paid and have a certificate of insurance but if not on the database I lose the car!  I phoned the broker again and they were useless they just said we can't get hold of the insurance company we used but will keep trying.  We also sent an email of complaint to the insurance company as no one answering the phone. We also spoke to the insurance ombudsmen who said the broker has to find out why this is happening but the clock is ticking and I can lose my car. I am also not sure if I am allowed to drive it it. It's all a mess and no one is helping me. Need advice urgently please

Who is the insurer and the underwriter on the insurance documents?

Have you checked the insurance DB yourself to make sure it is not a glitch in the lease company's systems?

Also check your MOT and Tax are showing correctly, in case they are causing some glitch.

You are allowed to drive a legally insured car, however at this point it is unclear if your car is insured so if you do not need to drive I would not, I would also keep it off the road if possible (eg private drive, garage, etc.), just in case. Be aware that the police use the same system so if you pass through a ANPR area you could be issued with a find and/or pulled over and the vehicle confiscated.

As you have 17 days, that is more than two weeks, that give you plenty of time to attempt to find out what is happening and if there is still an issue at that point then you can take out an insurance policy yourself for the vehicle and worry about double insurance and having two policies once it is all resolved.

Are they a real insurance broker or a "ghost broker"?  A ghost broker will take your money and send you a fake insurance certificate.  But the insurance company named on the certificate knows nothing about it.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
