I was interested to find out more about what you said. I'd agree there are a number of reasons that margins were tight, and seems Brexit was a good headline to reach for when prices went up. It looks like the failure of our big power cable to Europe in September had a big effect as well as confusion with a new system of auctions. Ireland seems to have suffered most from the Brexit effect. I agree with niktheguru regarding Agile. I have it and an EV but don't have a family and can easily avoid too much usage between the expensive 16.00 to 19.00 period. Tonight it's cheap again though, down to 0.30p for the cheapest half hour - 2.5 hours at less than a penny. What has really surprised me though is that's it's cheap all through the day: from 13.30 to 15.30 it's only 1.10p! A few hot washes tomorrow then.:-) Once or twice since I've had it it has even gone negative: they pay you to use electricity! Quite a few imaginative ideas as to how to use power can be found on the EV forums!To take advantage of the tariff I have bought their OHME charger for £199 which automatically selects the cheapest half hours based on the criteria you set via an app. I use it via a commando plug at the house end but other models are available.0

Hi All, I've just be looking around for a new duel fuel energy tarif (current: Fix 1 Year Exclusive June 2020 v2, approx annual consumption elec: 4200kwh, gas: 11200kwh). I don't own an electric car but Uswitch came up with EDF GoElectric May22 as being a good competitor (of the big util companies). Does anyone know if you can still go on EDFs Website and apply for this tarrif even if you don't have an electric car? I've looked through and there doesn't seem to be anything saying that you must own an EV car nor have a special high/low rate meter. Any thoughts most welcome. Thanks.1

Why do you only want a dual fuel tariff? It's unlikely you'll need an EV, but check the Ts &Cs, a summary of which will be found on the Citizens Advice comparison site (next steps > tariff information).0

Hmmm...might have answered my own question here (https://www.edfenergy.com/GoElectric-tariff) but would they really prevent a prospective customer who in the next couple of months is planning to buy an EV car, switching to their tarrif (the single rate version) beforehand?0

Unless you can provide an order form, they could.
