Outgoing emails not syncing from Outlook on laptop to iphone mail and vice versa

I have a work bluehost email address that I have set up on Outlook on my laptop and mail on my iphone.  Both work fine for incoming mail but I have spent hours and hours trying to get the outgoing mail to show on both devices.  Bluehost have confirmed that everything is working OK from their end and they have given me several suggestions to make it work including changing port numbers and SSL / no SSL options, none of which have worked.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What email protocol are you using on all devices? If you are using POP, then this will not sync - it just downloads the inbox to the device. IMAP will fully sync, as long as all devices are using IMAP. Or are you using Exchange?

Definetely using IMAP on Outlook and as far as I can see, (It's not easy for me to tell) I am using IMAP on the phone.  I have tried setting up Outlook on the phone with IMAP but I don't get any further than the first screen as it won't allow me to set it up with the username and host name for some reason.

Definitely double check you are using IMAP on the all devices
Check your username, password, and hostname is correct - and that you are using the correct ports and encryption types.
