Average Time To Buy/Sell House

Hi Everyone.
With the stamp duty deadline looming I am currently midway through my flat sale and looking for another place. Ideally if I found somewhere I would want to try and beat the stamp duty deadline.
For those of you who are selling/sold or bought a property recently how long did your purchase or sale take? I've heard some people say its taken 6 months. Someone in my block who sold last year said it took 6 months but things were still locked down at the time.
An insight would be interesting. Cheers guys

My sale was ready to exchange in January after 4 months. My purchase is still ongoing after 6 months due to an issue with the lease."Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles".0

Minimum of three months for the average freehold property. Leasehold will take longer.0

Watching becoase I am in the same boat. Sale agreed on both houses and mortgage application just submitted today. I would like to beat the deadline, and would love to be in the house to enjoy the beautiful garden this summer.
But not getting too stressed about it.0 -
My neighbour put their house up for sale in February, last month. Within 6 days they accepted an offer. Their moving date/ completion is March 31st.So from putting it on the market to being in their new house will have taken a total of 7 weeks (if all goes to plan). We are in Scotland and the buyer is in England.2

The process is generally much quicker in Scotland so not really comparable.cannugec5 said:My neighbour put their house up for sale in February, last month. Within 6 days they accepted an offer. When I bought my flat I got it all done within 9 weeks and that included Xmas / NYs falling in between which was pretty quick.cannugec5 said:My neighbour put their house up for sale in February, last month. I wished sales in England were as quick as Scotland. The cottage industry down here is a pain in the back side.0 -

Ah OK. When I spoke to my solicitor she said if its a house you could probably get it done within 3 months but if it was a flat you could have issues as it's leasehold. You seem like you are already going through the motions. I reckon you will get it done.Redwino222 said:Watching becoase I am in the same boat.
