Should I sugar soap my kitchen walls before painting

Our kitchen is quite big but we have no real ventilation so the walls sweat when we cook. We want to paint it next week but feel we should do something to prep the wall for the best finish.
Would using sugar soap to wash the walls down be a good idea?
Any suggestions to get the best finish appreciated
Thanks

Yes, especially kitchen walls which accumulate grease over the years.

Unless its absorbant matt paint , I would wash it and possibly lightly sand the surface.
We have some horrid plastic paint in our kitchen which we can peel off, so I'm doing it in bits in preparation for redoing the kitchen.0 -
Absolutely in a kitchen, if you don't do decent prep work, the paint you apply will adhere patchily and give you an even worse surface to deal with when you have to do it again.
