Is it worth swapping my Sky router for a newer one?

Hi all
at present I am on Sky fibre with a normal Sky+ HD box for my TV. My router is the glossy black one, model SR102. A while back I was going to upgrade to Sky Q and was sent another router, model ER110. I didn't complete my upgrade but still have this boxed router.

Is there any advantage (I'm thinking performance wise), to swapping my existing SR102 for this new ER110 router and if so is it a simple plug and play swap please? At present I get around 35mbps download on wifi and around 60mbps on wired connection.

Many thanks for any advice / info on this.

The wifi is a piece of junk on the SR102 unless you happen to be right on top of it.  You may benefit on the ER110 if you're further away as the wifi is better on it.  You may not.  If you're already sitting next to it its probably pointless swapping.  If you were further away, YMMV.

The main advantage of the newer Sky Hub router is that it has dual band wifi whereas the SR102 is still only single band. WOn;t be much use though if you have nothing to connect at 5Ghz though.

main item connected to the router is my firestick (wired connection) and laptop and mobile phones (wireless). So do you think no advantage to having 5Ghz availability?

    According to this it does.

Only one way to find out, is to plug in the other router and have a play.
