Try tapping F5 instead. This sometimes works as an alternative to F8 for accessing safe mode.

Virus/worm has been removed thankfully, i ran a avast scan well half of it at the moment and it seems i was able to delete it via avast, i stopped the scan as it took 4 hours to only deep scan 1/4 of the pc i then downloaded Intelligence updater from symantec and ran a norton scan and there was nothing it had gone :j so to be certain i will set another scan up tonight and let it run overnight just to make sure.

I believe that with sky broadband you get mcafee free for a year and if that works then no need for a new pc but if it doesnt work then santa has offered to bring a new pc :D

Thanks to all you who helped get me through this
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Great to hear the news.

If you would like a couple of good general free tools to help you keep the computer clear of scum these are they ....

    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

Download, install, update and scan your computer with both on a regular basis. Let them delete anything they find to be bad.

    Good luck.

If Norton messes up and it does because I have had it a few times.

The best thing to do is remove all traces and reinstall the version you bought. But getting rid of it all is not a quick job.

Read my post on it in the link below.

    Removing Norton

Just to let you know, I did the above successfully on a couple of computers and I have had no training whatsoever on computers. I had my heart in my mouth messing with the registry, but Nortons is now fully removed.

I think they leave bits of it sitting around on your computer so you have to keep using Nortons via the update (you can't even instal a new Nortons on top of an old one!), and I'm sure a lot of people must just give up and use the update as it is so much easier!
