OP: Was there a satisfactory conclusion to this?

I've just seen a piece on Rip Off Britain Live where a man clicked on a link for a 'check' but ended up being signed up and out of pocket.
There have been dozens of threads on here unfortunately. This is one of the latest:

  • In the past I came across a number of cases involving this type of cowboy outfit. They attract workers (usually in the construction industry) and say they can claim travelling and other expenses for them. The Revenue operate on a 'process now, check later' basis and therefore issue a repayment to the cowboys (who have been nominated to receive it by the gullible worker). The cowboys take out their 40%+ and give the balance to the worker. When the Revenue do get around to checking the claim they often reject it and claim the full amount of the refund from the worker - the cowboys have ridden off into the sunset.
