Where is my tax code/bracket?

I'm self employed on a low wage, and have been out of work for the last year, surviving on the government grants.
I got the MSE bulletin today and it had a list of things to check and try before April, so I'm trying to see if there's anything I can claim back or change to improve my situation.
The first thing is to check I'm on the correct tax code/bracket. There's an MSE tax code calculator, but I can't find my current code anywhere, to enter.
I've been through every page in the gov.gateway, looked at all of my statements, and all of my summeries, but it isn't listed anywhere.
I don't get payslips when I work. Can anyone familiar with the HMRC website help me find my current tax code?
Thanks.

Tax codes are for people with a job or pension (not the State Pension).
Do you have a job or pension?1 -
If you don't have any PAYE income, you won't be issued with a Coding Notice. When you submit your tax return, you will be allocated your tax free personal allowance of £12,500 for the 20/21 year as part of the calculation of what tax you owe.1

Ah, OK. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm struggling to think straight at the moment.
I don't suppose any of you know if there's anything I can claim back for the last 12 months?
I've only had about 1 full day's paid work in that time, the rest I've made do on the grants, but each grant is only worth approx £2,800 to me, covering 4 months or more, and even though I've had no income, I've got a tax payment due of £1,000, which will come out of the next grant in April, leaving me with less than £2k to survive on until July.
It's really tough and is costing me sleep.
Thanks.0 -
Can you tell me what the tax payment relates to? Is it a balancing payment for 2019/20 or a payment on account for 2020/21? If you don’t know - do you have to pay another £1000 in July?nightofjoy said:Ah, OK. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm struggling to think straight at the moment.

I'm pretty sure I have another £1000 to pay in July. Let me log into the Matrix and check...[Deleted User] said:

If that is the case it is likely that you paid £2000 relating to 2019/20 tax year and £1000 as payment on account for 2020/21 in January. If you genuinely have no profits in this tax year or they are below 12500 (2020/21) you can make a claim to reduce to zero. You would have nothing to pay in July and can claim a refund of the first £1000. That would mean getting your tax return in as soon as possible after 6th April.nightofjoy said:

I've definitely made less than £12500, as of now I've made between £150 and £200 over the last year and it's impossible that this will change before April 5th.[Deleted User] said:

So if I get my tax return in on April 6th, or that week.... what do I do after that?

There is a section towards the end of the return headed ‘if you have paid too much tax’. Complete that and don’t pay the amount due in July. Be careful though - my assumptions in my previous post need to be correct.0

Well the £943 I owe now can't get paid until the next grant comes in, and the government won't even tell up when that is yet.[Deleted User] said:There is a section towards the end of the return headed ‘if you have paid too much tax’. Previous ones have been toward the end of the month.
So there will be penalties on my account too.0 -
Can we share photos in private messages on here? I can take a screenshot...nightofjoy said:
