Destination2

Hi,
Last year we booked a holiday to the Maldives for later this year via Destination2. With all the uncertainty around what will happen with lock down and whether vaccinations will be required to travel, me and my partner are trying to weigh up our options as we are due to pay the remaining balance next week.
We had thought It might be best to cancel the holiday and cut our losses in case we are unable to go on the holiday (if say vaccinations are enforced and we haven’t had them in time) and we were unable to get a refund. We tried to contact Destination2 but they have closed their customer service phone line and said to email them which we did. The email response we got gave no answers to the questions asked and basically said, bear with us… Given they completely avoided our question regarding cancelling, where does that leave us in terms of options and where we might stand legally? I don’t want to just blindly cancel the holiday (If I’m even able to given the lack of communication!) as I have no idea what they will charge me but at the same time come next week I imagine they will just take the full amount from my account anyway.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Start by checking the Ts & Cs under which you booked - these should specify how much you'd be liable to pay if cancelling, which may be more than what you've paid so far. Also, what cover does your travel insurance provide?0

The terms and conditions state: “Total flight cost plus 35% of all other elements relating to the booking (or the deposit amount whichever is the greater).” The issue is that I do not have a breakdown of the flight cost or other elements and so the actual amount I would be charged is unknown which Is why I tried to contact Destination2. We had not taken out insurance at the time given the holiday was so far away, a mistake in hindsight although I believe that insurance companies are not covering COVID related cancellations?

Destination2 tend to only respond when they get negative reviews on trustpilot. Try leaving a review saying you’ve emailed a not had a response. They’ll come back to you then0
