I applied for a credit card 6 weeks ago on a balance transfer deal. I have not activated it. how long do i have to activate it normally before the deal/offer expires.

  • depends on the card issuer, my Nat West one I think was 2 months, some it might be longer, some shorter. Read the terms and conditions

It should say on the credit card agreement you should have received. My last one was 90 days. If you don't transfer the balance, it's a bit wasteful because every time you apply for credit, there's a hard search on your credit report.

It may not be from card activation, but from agreement date.

The time starts ticking from teh date you are approved.
Most providers require the BT to be started within 60 days (some 90).
You'd better start that BT otherwise you'll end up on their standard terms.
